5 Things You Should Know About the Executive Order on Immigration
On November 20th 2014, President Barack Obama announced an executive order to delay deportations for over 5 million undocumented immigrants. Qualifying individuals will be able to receive a work permit as a result of this program.
To Qualify for the Executive Order:
- Have lived in the U.S. for at least 5 years (starting January 1st , 2010)
- Be a parent of a U.S. citizen/permanent resident
- Pass a background check
- Continue to obey U.S. laws, including paying taxes.
- USCIS will not accept applications for this program until early 2015
